Halloween isn’t too far away, (for an un-experienced sewer like myself), and I have debated making my boyfriend and I into characters from either The Mortal Instruments series or the Infernal Devices series…. I finally chose on what we’re going to be and *drumroll please* we’re going as Tess and (either) Will and Jem…. CANNOT WAIT.
The only problem with this, is I had the worse time finding patterns for that time frame, I finally found some, and (the men’s was 20 times harder than picking mine), so my man will be 20 years out of date, but oh well. Its men’s outfits, they’re close enough… and then I couldn’t decide which type of skirt to wear, because they were all so…. bustle-y…. I finally found one from year 1901 and granted, it’s a split skirt, which would be scandalous in the 1870-1880’s, but I am using creative licence to say this is Shadowhunter gear, which Tessa has to wear in book 2. SO! Now it’s up to me to pick a bodice, but as I couldn’t decide at the moment, I ordered all of them and will pick later!
EEEEEEEEEEEEE *happy dance*
Polls
Vote for Mortal Instruments! :) Come on TMI-ers, show ‘em what you can do!
I decided to repost this because I decided if TMI wins, for fun, I’ll post the tale of why Will is afraid of ducks…
(This poll is just for fun, mind, it doesn’t mean anything in the larger world about what movies get made and what don’t! So voting is just for kicks.)
Heroines represent!
It makes me happy to see all the girls together. Girls, strong girls, front and center in books and movies — can’t wait for The Hunger Games! — is a fantastic thing to see.
Okay, off to the airport!
Sarah Bolger as Tessa Gray of the Infernal Devices
Lily Collins as Clary Fray of the Mortal Instruments
Teresa Palmer as Emma Carstairs of the Dark Artifices

So — this was the fun news I was promising. It broke before I actually thought it was going to!
Basically: The Dark Artifices is a go! After a lot of discussion with my publisher, it’s definitely happening — the books are being scheduled, we’re all psyched, and I’ve been looking forward to getting to tell you for weeks!
There’ll be more details tomorrow, but in the meantime:
NEW YORK, March 12, 2012– Cassandra Clare, award-winning #1 New York Times bestselling author of “The Mortal Instruments” and “The Infernal Devices” series, has signed an agreement with Margaret K. McElderry Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, for a third young adult fantasy series featuring her immensely popular Shadowhunters. The new series will be entitled “The Dark Artifices.”
“The Mortal Instruments” series—which includes City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass and City of Fallen Angels—and “The Infernal Devices” series—which includes Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince—have gone on to become New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Publishers Weekly bestsellers. City of Lost Souls, the fifth installment in “The Mortal Instruments” series, will be published in all formats on May 8, 2012.
The first book in “The Dark Artifices” is scheduled for publication in 2015. Set against the glittering backdrop of present-day Los Angeles, the series follows Emma Carstairs, the fiercest warrior and most skilled young Shadowhunter since Jace Wayland, and Emma’s sworn partner in arms, Julian Blackthorn. Despite Emma’s complicated feelings for Julian, the two must band together to investigate a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica.
Cassandra said: “Simon and Schuster has been a wonderful home for the Shadowhunter books for many years, and I am so excited to be able to embark on this new adventure with them. I know readers will come to love Emma, Mark, Cristina and Julian just as they have loved Jace, Clary, Will, Tessa and Jem. Readers have often asked what will happen in the Shadowhunter world after the events of the Mortal Instruments and this series will give them a chance to find out.”
I can’t wait for you guys to meet the TDA characters. It’s going to be amazing. :)
It seemed appropriate. :)
I can’t wait I can’t wait I can’t wait
Katie Cassidy as Emma Carstairs. She was so good as a rogue demon in “Supernatural”, I think she would have made a kick-ass Shadowhunter.
